Alan Fausel, AKC Museum of The Dog, will speak on the history of the Greyhound through the ages as represented in art.


Dr. Blankenship (bio) Prevention and Treatment of Allergy and Other Autoimmune Diseases in the Dog

 

Cynthia Branigan, author of “The Reign of the Greyhound”, will speak on the history and development of the breed before coming to America.
 

Dr. Dove (bio) will speak on Reproduction in the Greyhound.

 

Dani and Elizabeth Edgerton Topic: Passing down your vision of the ideal greyhound through the generations.

Dr. Garvin will speak on AKC Purebred Preservation Bank.

 

Dr. Gillette, a sports medicine vet, will speak on maintaining the canine athlete.

Sue Lackey, author of “Greyhounds in America” will speak on the development of the Greyhound as a show dog, specifically the development of show kennels and bloodlines in America up to the 1990’s.

 

Laurie Soutar, AKC winner of Lifetime Achievement in Performance will speak on breeding for the total Greyhound.

An Ophthalmologist will speak openly on current research on PRA and testing being done on Greyhounds (UC Davis and U of Florida)

  • Breeding—Health testing, maintaining reproductive vigor, evaluating and placing puppies in show and performance homes

  • Maintaining the breed standard—Exhibiting, how new judges are educated in your country, conditioning the show dog, importance of Specialties, importance of All-Breed Shows

  • Maintaining the breed standard—Performance, how to evaluate the breed’s ability to perform its original purpose, how to develop a puppy to compete in a variety of venues to make it a “good canine companion” and family member.

  • Discussion of how original breeding stock was selected and acquired, the importance of mentoring, incorporating new bloodlines, developing your ideal Greyhound.
