GREYHOUND
WORLD CONGRESS

HOW IT BEGAN

The initiative of a Greyhound World Congress was taken by the president of The Norwegian Greyhound Club, Lise Olesen, and vice-president Espen Engh. Our aims for the first congress were to bring together Greyhound fanciers from all over the world, giving breeders, owners, and judges the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience; to wander through the breed’s history, development, and function; to actively map and improve Greyhound health; and to further familiarize the breed standards with the Greyhound fancy. Possibly, to work towards one worldwide Greyhound standard. An interesting idea was to set up a “list of merit," which we succeeded.

We were pleased to welcome 120 guests from 19 countries, a big happy, and enthusiastic crowd representing approximately 2500 years of greyhound experience! Our thirteen speakers were among the most experienced and highly respected breeders and judges in the world, and we are more than grateful to them for having unconditionally agreed to share their knowledge with us.

The GWC Committee; Lise Olesen, Espen Engh, Tore Berg-Vingen, and Aina Løkken with The Norwegian Greyhound Club are proud to announce the congress as a big success! Our gratitude to the speakers, the moderator, the participants, and our sponsors, as well as Refsnes Manor, the beautiful site of the event!

We wish the GWC 2025 committee a big success in bringing Greyhound fanciers together for the third time!
